Tanis was impacted by mental illness at a young age. Depression, addiction, suicide and other challenges have been a part of her family system for generations and she has found the support of counselling and other interventions to be transformative. Understanding how to help others through understanding how to help ourselves is an ongoing passion for Tanis and is what drew her to the field of psychology. She is currently working on a book that connects the dots between her own story and the shared experiences and challenges we face as Humans, looking at how our nature has evolved and how we can move away from judgement and false refuge, towards wisdom and understanding.
Volunteering has always been an integral part of Tanis’ development and journey, she understands the value and importance of community. She is excited to contribute her time and perspective to the great work being done by Moving Forward Family Services.
